Malike Fofana

Upon graduation from our middle school, Malike attended Frederick Douglas Academy in Harlem, where he graduated in the summer of 2018 with his High School Diploma. He continued his studies and graduated last year from Lehman College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and a minor in Childhood Education. During his undergraduate years, Malike had the opportunity to be part of the NYC Men Teach, “which engages and recruits men of color to become teachers in New York City.” Additionally, he also participated in the Careers In Teaching (CIT) program, which is part of a new Lehman College federally funded grant that supports first generation college students to successfully complete a program of study at the post-secondary level. As Malike has continued to achieve success through his determination and continuous work in achieving excellence, Lehman accepted him into their rigorous graduate program where he is pursuing his Masters Degree in Education. During his days off from graduate school, Malike substitute teaches at 218. He has had the opportunity to work with some of our upper elementary students as well as our middle schoolers. Malike brings warmth, inspiration, and plenty of energy to our classrooms. His former teachers are excited to have him back and hope that he will continue to support our pupils with a permanent position in the near future.
