Chain of Command for Students


Students should adhere to the described procedure and protocol detailed below when interacting with School Faculty and Staff.

Instructional Issues/Behavioral Issues/Issues Regarding Staff


Level 1: Straight to the teacher involved with the issue

  • Place a note in the teacher’s mailbox for an appointment.
  • Ask the teacher directly for an appointment to discuss the issue.
  • Speak respectfully and be prepared to provide any relevant information.
  • If you are making a request, make sure you can present a good case.
Level 2: Grade Administrator

  • Place a note in the Assistant Principal’s mailbox for an appointment with a brief description of the issue.
  • Ask for a pass to see the administrator and set up an appointment.
  • Speak respectfully and be prepared to provide any relevant information.
  • If you are making a request, make sure you can present a well thought out argument and are able to provide evidence.
  • If there is an issue with a staff member, you may see an administrator or a guidance counselor.
Level 3: Grade Administrator/Teacher and Parent

  • Have the parent call and make an appointment to speak with the administrator.
  • Have with you, clearly stated, the issue of concern.
  • Be prepared to present any evidence you may wish to provide to support your argument.
Level 4: Principal

  • Must have gone to Level 1, then Level 2 and 3.
Understandings:

  • These Levels are meant to facilitate clear communication.
  • These Levels are not meant to excuse students for misbehavior or lack of work.
  • Disciplinary actions will be taken based on the Chancellor’s Regulations and school rules.
